Why would I buy from APT?

What is the “Quick Ship” Program?
APT stocks the majority of our TVSS products that we build, which is also the majority of what is in the marketplace today. We can ship these TVSS units in the same day they are ordered at no additional cost to you. If you need it right away, call APT first! We welcome one and two unit orders!

Do you sell direct to contractors?
APT values our relationship with distributors like YOU. Although we may be involved at different phases of a job, we always make sure that a contractor understands that the TVSS units will be purchased through the supply house of their choice. We do not sell direct!

Is APT currently UL 1449 listed?
ABSOLUTELY! We value the testing that UL performs on all of our TVSS units and we support the need for continued testing for safety issues in the TVSS industry. Safety first! Be aware that there are other manufacturers that are no longer UL Listed. You should verify them yourself at http://database.ul.com/cgi-bin/XYV/template/LISEXT/1FRAME/index.htm

What if APT is not listed in the specification?
While APT is the most commonly speced external TVSS manufacturer in the nation, there are times when an engineer may not have APT in the written spec. The majority of the time this is not a problem. With the most extensive database in the industry APT is quickly able to identify the trends and practices of all engineering firms that specify TVSS. It may be a shop drawing review or that the engineer is open to alternate vendors that meet or exceed the specifications. This allows us to inform you of the best course of action concerning the job. APT will also do any leg work needed with the engineer to get APT approved for this and/or future jobs.

What if an engineer has listed specific TVSS manufacturers with “no substitutions”?
APT is always available to quickly review any spec. We are not in business for short-term gains so we will always be up front with your options for the job. With our experience and database, we may be able to save you much work and grief by “reading between the lines” of what the spec is asking and what the engineer may really want. We will never lead you astray.

Will you call an engineer to see if they will approve your product?
In our database we may have already noted the type of behavior an engineer may have regarding their specification. With this information, we can quickly identify whether to send the engineer a prior approval package or to advise you to quote our product with confidence. If this is a public bid, odds are we have already sent a request to be approved if we were not in the specifications. If there is ample time before the bid date then we will make whatever calls necessary to advise you how to proceed. Please make sure to read the comments on the quotes that we send to you. They will contain valuable information concerning the job.

Why should I breakout the TVSS from my gear package?
APT understands your relationship with your gear company. It is a very competitive market place and APT’s lower price and expertise can help you secure jobs that may otherwise be lost. Misinterpretation of the specification or human error resulting in the wrong part numbers being keyed into your system could cause a substantially inflated price that could even cause the loss of the gear package. There is also the risk of misinterpretation of the specification or human error resulting in substantially lower cost products that do not meet the engineer’s requirements. You would then be in a position of dealing with a rejection and finding yourself short of funds to complete the TVSS purchase. Our TVSS experts will utilize our suite of tools and expertise to correctly interpret what the engineer is requesting. A little creative effort on the front end may save you a ton of time, energy and money on the back end. Also, APT TVSS’s are a profitable solution when a job needs to be value engineered or it is a very competitive bid.

What if the specifications are calling for internal TVSS’s?
Internal TVSS is not always necessarily the only option. Many engineers are too busy to update their TVSS specs and may be open to alternatives. We note every conversation and history we have with engineers and we can tell you with confidence whether to use our quote or not. This will always be noted in the quote comments that we send to you. We will never send you a quote on a job that we believe has little chance of success with APT’s product and external TVSS’s.

What is your RMA process?
While APT’s standard warranty is 5 years, we stand behind our product 100%. We will do everything possible to make the process as “pain-free” as possible for you and your client.

What is the minimum order fee?
APT does NOT have a minimum order fee. Onesie, twosies jobs are welcomed. No job is too large or too small for APT!

What are your standard lead-times?
Our normal ship date is no more than 10 days from receipt of a purchase order on custom builds, AND same day shipping on our most common modular and non-modular inventory units ordered before 3:00 pm EST.

How do I know when to buy, quote or recommend modular or non-modular TVSS’s?
It depends of the application. We recommend that you give us a call so that we can help identify what would be the best solution for the job.

How do I know that APT is quoting me what I need versus sticking me with a high priced TVSS unit above what is required for the job?
Our sales reps are NOT commissioned based on their sales. Our approach is to create a behavior with our sales team to help YOU win a job by providing you with the TVSS unit that best meets the specification and/or needs of the job at the lowest price. We value the long-term relationship with you far more than the job at hand.

Do you have TVSS’s for every application?
YES! We offer the most comprehensive line of modular and non-modular products in the industry. We cover all voltage codes, which also includes 480V Delta’s. Our TVSS units are designed for small applications, up to “mission critical” environments. We also offer medium voltage, Din-Rail, residential and data/telecommunication products.

Does APT pricing fluxuate based on whether APT is written in the specification or not?
APT does NOT change our prices on the same product based on whether we are sole specified on a job or not. We price our product to win the job for you!

How can I feel confident that APT is what I should use in my quote come bid day?
We do our homework so that you can quote APT products with confidence. We have an extensive database where we log every conversation, opportunity and historical information so that we can provide you with the information to make the best business decision possible.

Is there a lot of work in breaking out the TVSS from my gear?
Not at all! Odds are that you have already received a quote from us prior to doing your takeoff. But if this is not the case, just give us a quick call or send us the spec and we will take it from there. Let us do the leg work!

Can I use your cutsheets in my submittal package?
Sure you can, but you may also run the risk of a rejection from the engineer if some of their vital criteria are missing. Our sales experts have formal submittals for your particular job at their finger tips that they can send to you in minutes! It will contain all required information for the TVSS portion of the job. Our submittal packages have been designed to mitigate the risk of rejection.

Do I need to fuse your TVSS units?
No. Our units are designed with fusing in accordance with UL 1449 2nd Edition Revised and use APT’s Patented TranSafe circuit with thermal cutout and overcurrent protection.

Why does my contractor have a price from APT?
We do not sell direct to contractors but we still may send them a quote with a distributor mark up included. This only happens when a contractor has not selected or does not have a current relationship with a supply house in the area. We will help to secure the job and have it pushed back through your company.
